Voices of Steel

Our student vocal A Capella group, Voices of Steel, begin their performance and festival season this weekend.  They are as entertaining as they are talented, breathing new life into rock, pop, and R&B songs with creative arrangements using only their voices to recreate the melody, harmony, bass, and drums.  Keep an eye open for opportunities to see them on stage - they are fantastic!

Voices of Steel are pictured here rehearsing a "mash-up" of Sara Bareilles' Brave and Katy Perry's Roar, featuring seniors Carly Buckley and Natalie Joly on lead vocals.

A professional learning community

Mid-year exams and other common assessments serve a greater purpose than gathering student grades:  assessment data is used by teacher teams for an in-depth analysis of what students have learned following a unit of study.  Pictured here is a Math team involved in an item-by-item analysis of a mid-year exam (projected on the white board). The team's discussion involves how they teach each concept, with our students' performance providing important information about how the teachers will respond in upcoming instruction to help all students achieve at a high level.  This data team practice is part of our commitment to working as a professional learning community.

Visual merchandising project refreshes Warrior Store

Exciting curricular opportunities at WMHS can be found in the Business Department.  Students in Marketing class recently completed a unit on visual merchandising and put their learning to work in our Warrior Store.  With this opportunity to blend creativity and practical application of marketing skills, they have received many compliments on how fresh and new the store looks.  The students will soon see if their visual merchandising techniques pay off with prolific Valentine's Day sales!  The Warrior Store is open daily from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. for students, faculty, and visitors.  The store is located near the cafeteria, across the hall from The Savings Bank Theater.
